Voluntary Registration is a 2-year certification for providers who have fewer than 6 children in care. As of 7/1/16, this will change to fewer than 5 children in care. Being registered promotes you as a professional and has additional benefits such as being eligible for the USDA Food Program! ReadyKids can help you with the Voluntary Registration (VR) application process. Click here to view a presentation about Voluntary Registration. Then contact Suzanne McDonald at 434-296-4118, x249 for an application and to learn more. After you have your certificate, ReadyKids offers trainings and incentive programs.

Virginia’s Child Care Subsidy Program assists eligible families with child care payments. A parent eligible for assistance must request you as the child’s provider through her DSS caseworker who will make a referral to Child Care Aware of Virginia. You will be mailed an application packet. Once you satisfactorily complete all application requirements, you will be approved as a child care subsidy vendor and will be paid for contracted hours of care through your local Department of Social Services. Requirements include background checks for all adults in the household, First Aid/CPR training, and a TB screening. The vendor program is monitored and managed by the regional offices of Child Care Aware of Virginia.
